You can do anything you put your mind to

This is my mind set for today....

I am preparing for another 5k race tomorrow morning. My last 5k last month I ran it in 27:20. I didn't prepare my mind for this race. It was just supposed to be a fun race with my girlfriends. Well... the race adrenaline got to me at the start of the race and I took off from my friends. I pushed myself and came in 00:32 seconds faster than my last 5k race back in April 2014.

I am liking these smaller races. Normally I am a longer distance runner but running a shorter race and seeing how fast I can go has been very motivating!

But now I am nervous.... WHY! Because even though tomorrow is another FUN race with my girlfriends, I have that itch. I have that itch to beat my last 5k time.


I started looking at the racing website and last years results. The winning time for the woman was 18:23 (the fastest male was 16:46). I then looked where I would fall and started thinking to myself... I wonder if I can get 26:00 minutes. Or even 25:00 or 24:00! You can see where my mind has been going.

So I am mentally preparing myself. I am skipping my workout today to rest my body. I am drinking all my water and eating healthy. And I will get to bed early tonight. But my mind is the one that I need to make sure is calm (so that I can sleep tonight). And also keep telling myself that I can do anything I put my mind to. If I want a PR tomorrow... my mind has to be in the right place.

I can do this!
