I have a Goal!

Thursday, September 25, 2014

Yeah, I have a weight loss goal, but now I have another, short-term goal.

I saw my orthopedic surgeon today for a cortisone shot and a serious discussion about FINALLY getting my knees replaced. I started seeing him 3 years ago. In that time I've had 4 injection series in my left knee. Only one in my right knee. The last series of injections didn't go so well. The first 2 shots of the series went OK, but I could have done without the last one. It caused more pain than it relieved! It turns out that about 5% of people who have Synvisc injections develope antibodies and I'm apparently part of the lucky 5%.

My goal now is to strengthen my legs and lose more weight in preparation for knee replacement surgery. I see the doctor again in 4 months. I hope to be below 240 (I'm 259 today).
