Sparking for 2

Sunday, May 27, 2007

The end of May is my 2-month anniversary here and what an adventure it had been. It feels so much longer than that, in the best possible way. I have "met" and chatted with so many supportive people here. I hope that I have given back at least a portion of the warmth and graciousness I receive daily. I am constantly amazed at the kindness and humanity of this community. I still get excited about checking in with my Queen Sisters and sharing my enthusiam with newcomers. I laugh aloud a lot. I also share the pain of our individual struggles both with this piece of the journey as well as just the complexities of daily living. Each day I learn more about this journey and myself.

I am GRATEFUL for these folks and HONORED to be accepted amongst them.

I am elated with my progress, but frustrated with my inconsistency. Despite that, I have accomplished a few things:

Lost 12.2lbs
Lost 3% body fat
Taming the Elliptical Monster (from never used to being scraped off the floor after 10 minutes to 40 minutes at level 5 and moving on)
Improved understanding and control of portion sizes
Climbing 3 flights of stairs without a rest on the 2nd floor and without puffing on the 3rd
Less stress and better ability to manage it
More energy and enthusiasm
Ran a half-block (no one was chasing me)

On June 1, I will join my Queens in a new challenge: 30 in 90. We will collectively lose hundreds of pounds, improve our health and I know have fun along the way.

...and so it goes
