Sunny Gal Challenge #2

Friday, September 12, 2014

I did the body fat test which was suppose to give me a healthy weight.

My numbers are as follows:

It says that I have 45% body fat, and I would have thought it was more.
185 pounds of lean muscle and 151 pounds of fat.
That makes my goal for weight loss 231 pounds.....seems way to high.

Looking over some of the other Sunny Gals results, it seems that for those of us who have higher weight, our healthy weight goals seem to be very high, those that are already closer to goal are much closer or right on.

I think I will stick with my goal of 170 because I know I felt my best when I was about 165, I was solid as a rock and really felt well.

These numbers can be very confusing and discouraging. It looks like that it will take forever to get a healthy BMI. I have a fat measuring device, and I rarely use it, perhaps everey six months once. I felt discouraged because it depends if I drank enough fluids and when or even used the bathroom, and the numbers were different. The best I can do is consistently track the food and exercise for a certain amount of minutes every week. I bought books Reversing Inflammation to improve my well-being, and I started a free program Preventing Diabetes paid by my health insurance… I try. These numbers are scary.
I instead read just one number, which says the BMI is 34.6. It only can become better!
Thank you also for supporting me and commenting on my activity. Have a great day,

The weight they proposed to me was 226. My goal weight is 180. I always plateau at 200. I think I will take my results with a grain of salt. Good luck with the challenge!

I think its because as much as we try we are going to lose some of the lean mass as we continue on our weight loss journeys. Which kind of makes sense since as we loose weight we won't be carrying around as much body weight all day so our muscles will not have to work as hard all day like they do now. At least that's what I think....I could be wrong.

It gives a good starting goal for us to work towards emoticon

I still don't understand how your waist and calf measurements affect the calculation. Maybe that is why it does not seem to work right in some cases. Not everyone gains weight in the same areas! Go with your original goal - makes more sense!

I had similar high results, I am going to retry the test and see if I do any better. Good job getting this weeks challenge done!

I did it but am still so confused by figuring out what I should weigh. It says I have 33% body fat. I hope to get to 160. The pcp I had in NM said 150 which is at the high end of a healthy bmi and 160 is over but I don't know if I can maintain 150. Originally I said 140 but have changed my mind. But I still need to go back and figure out what this test says I'm supposed to weigh. Glad you got yours done!
