Body Fat Percentage-Week2 Sunny Gals

Figure out your "real" goal weight by determining your current lean mass and adding a healthy body fat percentage to that number. For example:
Current lean mass: 125
Estimated body fat percentage at goal weight: 25%
"Real" goal weight: 125 + 25% = 156.25
* Obviously this will just be an initial estimate since lean mass may increase as one loses weight and gains muscle. (It may also decrease, but hopefully not - we want to keep all that muscle!)

Your Results:
You have 45% body fat.
You have 116.6 Pounds of fat and 142.4 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water).

My initial Goal weight is 178

I am going to adjust my goal for now. Maybe because in my mind 178 is more "do-able" than 152. 178 is a lot higher than I thought it woulod come out as, but it makes sense that it will change as I lose weight, get fit, and gain muscle.
So for now, I'll take it! It is 80.6lbs down from my present weight.

80.6 lbs to lose seems less scary to me than 106.6 lbs.
Its a way off, But I can do it! I am doing it!

    I agree with you on your new goal weight! I might have to redo it, it gave my goal weight way too high, I would only have to lose 6 lbs LOL

    Thank you for the link. I will redo my figuring and see how close my doctor was in telling me what would be an appropriate goal weight.

    I felt the exact same way about my new goal weight -- so much more attainable. And since it's grounded in real numbers, rather than just "I think I should weigh X" it also feels empowering -- at least it did to me.

    Of course, it doesn't have to be the final number either. You'll inevitably lose some muscle along the way (hopefully not too much!), so the real number to pay attention to is the body fat percentage. And once you get to 178, you can always reevaluate.
