Support From The Least Likely Person

Ok so today my dad totally surprised me. I told him yesterday about my new attempt at weight loss. This is the man who I told a few years ago......
ME: Dad i lost 20lbs
DAD: Don't worry I'm sure you'll find it again.
I know hes hilarious. Anyways as you can see he has never really been very supportive of me in my battle against obesity. However today he looks and says "I'm glad your dieting again." Ok so at this point I'm thinking sarcasm, right? I say "Really? Why?" then he totally surprise me with. "I'm just happy to hear your trying to get healthy." I swelled with happiness. Although my dad has never outright said it. I was always pretty certain he saw me as a huge disappointment. So my mouth dropped. All I could do was smile and say "Wow." That was the end of the conversation. Me and my dad have never been much for having "emotional" conversation. Nothing to deep. But trust me, that's his way of saying he was proud of me. If I wasn't positive I could follow through with getting healthy, I am now.
