Almost like starting college…

Wednesday, September 03, 2014

Although I have been out of college for awhile, I still felt a little excited when the end of August came around. I watched as friends and relatives packed up and went off to school. They had spent the last few weeks getting things organized, buying new clothes emoticon , things for their dorm rooms and supplies to get them through the semester. emoticon Then off they went hoping that what they had brought with them prepared them for the school year and anything that came up. emoticon

So why am I excited like I am going off to college? Because I too am spending time getting things organized for my “semester” by reviewing my food trackers to see what had worked for me at the beginning of the year; finding new recipes that my husband would like that fit my Paleo way of eating….and yes….even buying books. emoticon (I splurged on two new Paleo cookbooks that I have wanted for some time).

I spent the last few weeks getting myself prepared. Preparing myself to buckle down and get myself back on track. I had started the year off strong and lost almost 15 pounds but I had spent the summer just trying to hang on to that loss. But now with September here, I vowed to get serious again. The weather will be getting cooler and the summer activities slowing down so I will have time to devote to myself.

So just like a college student….I have to do my homework by exercising everyday. emoticon I have to plan my meals and snacks ahead of time and write down everything as if I was taking notes in class. emoticon I have to be prepared.

I feel a bit nervous about what is ahead and how I will handle the everyday life things that get in the way. But I need to keep up this excitement. I need to get my “A” at the end of the semester. emoticon

Hi, I'm Cecilia visiting from Azure this week. I get fired up in September too. It must be all those years in school. A new beginning each year.

    Good luck on your quest.

I agree September is a great time to check in and retool. Have you looked into "Against all grain-delectable paleo" cookbook. They have it down a my local library, DD and I were drooling over the pictures. I thought I might revisit it after I finished whole30...Thanks for reminding me its time to check it out!

You sound like you've done your homework. Now on to the first day of classes. Perhaps you could think of yourself as working your way through college, as in a P/T job, to get the things done that also need your attention. That is one way of looking at living your daily life with all it's lumps and bumps and balancing your schoolwork with it.
Away you go and I'll be watching to see your reports. I know you're going to get great marks. You have some of the knowledge and all of the tools. You CAN DO IT.
