Broken hip

Tuesday, September 02, 2014

Well, its been a while. I was doing very well on my bike and then fell in my kitchen and broke my hip, so I am on the mend. five weeks ago yesterday, I had surgery. walking with a cane and I am told no bike for a few weeks, I am walking each day and getting stronger. Went and got a hair cut today. The first real day out. I little scary, I must say.

    Just becareful, don't over due and take your time, no hurrying. ; } You'll know when your ready to give up the cane.
    I had both knees replaced (at the same time),10 yrs. ago, and used the walker almost 2 months. I was so afraid of falling ! We live in an old 2 story house, so have a lot of steps to climb up and down. I use to go down backwards, till I wasn't afraid. It was just easier !
    My Dr, had told me to use it as long as I needed it. I would know when I could let it go. He was right. Same thing with the cane.
    Hip surgery is a bit easier, not to be little any pain or anything you had, it's just a less invasive surgery.
    I tell ya' one thing, it was the worse pain I've ever had !!! The therapy was He_ _ !
    My DH said PT stands for Pure Torture ! I told him at the time that was an understatement ! LOL
    I know what you mean, it being scary the first time out. Thats a normal feeling. It will get easier and less scary as you get stronger and more confident. One day at a time and before you know it you'll be back on your bike and get your sea legs back. ; }
    Anyway, you just take good care of yourself and be really careful.
    I'm sure you'll be as good as new in no time!
    Take care now!
    KEEP SPARKLING !!!
    Love ya', Flutterfli emoticon
