I walked through my shoes....THROUGH them.

I often refer to this pursuit of health and wellness as a journey - a journey of discovery, of determination, of self acceptance...

This week, the fact that this is also a LITERAL journey hit me the feet. Since we moved to the edge of a national forest, my road walks have become off-road hikes. Tuesday I came home from my hike and told my husband that I had stepped on a rock too hard and I was sure I'd bruised my heel. Wednesday, I came home to report that this time I'd bruised the ball of my other foot. Last night, I finally wised up and turned my shoes over.

Ummm, that is NOT what they are supposed to look like. I was basically walking barefoot! In the exact spots where I was now bruised, the shoes were completely worn through. Only the insole was guarding me against direct contact with the rocky path.

These shoes were not new when I started Sparking back in January. Since then, I have used them for about 500 miles of movement... Wow, people...I walked THROUGH my shoes.

New shoes seem like a great reward for 59 pounds, 500 miles, and the sense of confidence I have earned with every step!
