I've never been a journal sort of guy. But I've been trusting and following the guidelines of SparkPeople and SparkCoach for a while. So far, the sensible approach has not led me astray. So I guess, if bloggers are more successful, I ought to jump in.

I've lost weight following SparkPeople before. Right at the top of success, lots of challenges came my way. Frankly, too many. My trusted running companion - my dog - finally succumbed to age and illness. Work became a place I dreaded. Family challenges became overwhelming. I resorted to eating for comfort.

It took a long time to recognize that my actions were signs of depression and my increase in weight was only one more symtom/cause. Finally, after seeking medical advice, that is being dealt with and I'm back to a program that worked.

Its week 3. I'm loving SparkCoach. Yes, I've got the really quick initial weight loss, which I know from experience will slow, and I'm OK with that. But for today - what do I see?
- a couple inches off the waist, and my casual shirt are fitting better
- I'm back to where the belt holes are not worn
- I WANT to get in a workout

I think that's all good.

    Welcome to SparkPeople. We are all here for the same reason, no matter what our personal story is. We are here to help each other to get to that healthy point we want to be in our lives. It is not going to be easy, but it is attainable. I have found that changing things up is the way to start weight loss. Make small goals and they will lead to big successes. Wait until you have to add belt holes, that is a real trip! Welcome and get active on this site. emoticon
