2 long meetings

Monday, August 25, 2014

After a full day in the office, 45 minutes to do farm chores
and just enough time to walk uptown, we started the first
of our two meetings of the ambulance crew.
The first meeting was an introduction to the new "Lucas"
device. It is an automatic chest compression machine
that is used to help heart attack victims who are not
responsive and their heart has stopped beating. Quite
an impressive machine. We received it through a grant
from the Leona Helmsly Foundation. I am not sure what
the sticker price would be if we needed to buy it by
ourselves but I am sure it isn't cheap. I just looked it
up mid-blog. $9,000.00 Oh, my!
Next was the annual hardship exemption meeting where
we justify why we need special drivers when we do not
have enough staff in town. That was a full hour and a
half. By the time we were done, I was so ready to go
home and have something to eat. Just not enough time
to eat much before the meeting except wheat bread
with peanut butter. That worked.
Now I am home to catch up on a few things before
bedtime. The world keeps on spinning.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Tuesday.
HUGS!

You sure had quite the day - I hope you get the driver assistance you need (and so heartily deserve)! By the way...... emoticon for all you do - we don't truly appreciate our first responders and support personnel until we really need them!

You know, sometimes a small, simple meal is just fine.......I've subsisted on mini-sandwiches or small portions of leftovers when full-out cooking just wasn't gonna happen.......and that's OK!

The world is spinning way too fast! Hang on!

I had no idea that there was a Leona Helmsey Foundation. Goes to show you how the news media definitely puts a slant on life.

I have never heard of that machine before and I am even more surprised that Leona Helmsley gave any money away???
That's cheaper than paying someone full time to help. Have a great HUMP DAY! emoticon emoticon

Never heard of the Lucas machine. Very impressive. Our community discussed getting the machine to use to shock a person back (see I am not too well versed in this) but decided the liability and cost was to much to justify getting it when we are only 5 min or less from the hospital and the ambulance squad is less than that. Decided to leave this to the pros. We do have a couple of retired firefighters who could help for a few min till help arrives and we might get some to recertify on CPR. With the age of most of our residents past 70 it isn't something many of us want to be responsible for.
    Hope your Tuesday was terrific.

Sounds like a very full day, but a very good one at the same time! That "Lucas" device sounds really great! What a God-send!!
Hope y'all get your extra drivers! I am sure there are times when the regulars are just not available, but you need a driver just the same!
Hope you rested well and are having a great Tuesday! (((HUGS)))

Oh, how I dislike going to one meeting in a day and you went to two! It's nice that you could get them both checked off the list and can move on. I hope the day today is a good one for you!
