One of my dogs was sick (thinking something happened with his tail…bug bite or maybe he whacked it??) Thursday night into Friday and I spent Thursday night into the wee hours of Friday hugging him and holding him up. He yelped every time he tried to sit or lay down. We both did not sleep (except for maybe an hour) so I started off Friday exhausted and knowing I still had to pack and then travel for 3-4 hours up to Maine. My mind just couldn’t wake up so I had some Lipton Chicken Noodle soup for breakfast which is so not Paleo never mind Whole30 approved. I had no energy to get anything else so it was what it was.
Because Bodie was not feeling well and had no sleep, he did not go to his walking group on Friday which threw off my plans. I was going to leave around 1pm when Bodie was gone. He has separation anxiety so I get things done when he is doing his walking group thing on Mondays and Fridays. (I know… my dogs rule my life LOL) Kasey, my other dog, is okay for a few hours by herself (she doesn’t like it but there is no destruction or major hissy fits if she is). I then had to wait for DH to get home from work before I could leave for Maine. I did not want to leave Bodie until DH was home, since he was already wigged out from no sleep and being in pain.
DH got caught in traffic and I finally ended up leaving an hour and half later than planned. I knew the later I left the worse the traffic would be going north so I was a bit stressed when I left. But I found some classic rock stations on the radio on the way up so just accepted the traffic would be bad and be bopped to the music. It took me 3 ½ hours which was about half an hour more than usual. So not too bad. When I got to my mother’s there were lobsters waiting for me so it was all good and the stress went away.
I would like to say that I stayed totally on Paleo/Whole30 Friday to Monday…but I did not. I can say though that I didn’t totally blow it and ate 85% of the time Paleo. Friday night I had just lobsters and mussels. That was it. And it was soooo good. The lobsters were right off the boat. Had leftover lobster for lunch on Saturday too!
I had a wonderful and relaxing time in Maine. I love to spend time with my mother. In the past we have visited lighthouses and forts or just taken hikes. Unfortunately the last few years she has been having some health issues so my annual August visit is more low key. I did get to hear the community band she is in however.
So fessing up...the non Whole30 things I ate over the 4 days: bread, crackers, diet soda, cheese, wine, ice cream and candy. My worse was Sunday night. But I am back home now and right back on plan.
I won’t list what I ate over the four days but I will post a couple of pictures I took (with my iPad cause my iPhone sort of fell into the washing machine on Thursday when I washing clothes to take with me to Maine. Sadly the phone is a goner. Ugh!!!)
Hello lobster!!!! Had two of these Friday night and one more Saturday for lunch.
The produce I bought at this wonderful farm store I always stop at before I go back to MA. Bought tons of pickling cukes so I can make pickles and a lot of corn to freeze. Also got some kohlrabi which I have never had but keep seeing recipes for..got a green one and a purple one. Missing is green and yellow beans I got from my mother’s garden and more cukes someone else gave me.
And that is it. Back to reality and to Day 16. Ya...not starting this over. Thinking I may do it a bit longer after the 30 days is over and maybe doing it Monday - Saturday with Sunday a ONE meal cheat day to satisfy my DH. Still thinking this over though.....
