My long weekend... August 1 - 4
August 1 we left for a long drive to Austin, TX
So, back in January I bought tickets to see, meet & greet Fall Out Boy in Austin, Texas... the whole family said they wanted to go, too... even tho they would not be going to the concert, just a trip to Texas would be fun, so off we went! We stayed in a really nice hotel at Round Rock. It was called the Homewood Suites... if you're ever there, I recommend it. :) We were pooped, so we just ordered in Pizza and then went to bed.
August 2, We found an outlet mall, but it wasn't actually an outlet mall, prices were retail or a buy one get one half at most stores. They did have a chocolate shop with the most delicious dark chocolate covered salted caramels! :) Then late that afternoon we headed to the Austin 360 Amphitheater for the MONUMENTOUR Concert!! The rest of my family went to check out Austin and to eat, while us girls went to ROCK!... First... the meet & greet. Like last time in Memphis, it went way too fast!! We lined up, got to shake hands say hello, smile a lot, and get autographs, then it was back in line for the photo! I wanted to say "group hug!!" but I reckon I chickened out. :) This was the pic I got and I'm happy with it!!
Then the concert... It was fabulous! New Politics played first... this is a new band I hadn't heard before, and they were good! The lead singer even crowd surfed! That was cool. Paramore played next. Hayley Williams has such energy and sounds as good live as she does on the cd's! This is a pic of Hayley doing what she does so well...
Then finally... MY band Fall Out Boy! They rocked. Literally. :)
Lead singer: Patrick Stump... best voice in the world!
Pete Wentz... hottest bassist :)
Fall Out Boy!
It was all over by 11:30 and of course, I got myself a tour shirt! :)
August 3, long drive back home ... really long... because we drove down to Galveston and stopped at Stewart Beach!!! Yes! I got to see the ocean!!!! :) Totally a spontaneous trip, we had no swim suits, towels and I didn't even have my flip flops, but I was so happy!
my kids plus one (oldest's son's girlfriend)
me (in my concert shirt) and the ocean. :)
yes, it was crowded, but it was worth it!
Then we crossed from Galveston Island to Port Bolivar on the ferry (my first ferry ride!) This pic is of my sons on the ferry.
and then headed home. We arrived home at 4AM on August 4th. I was so glad I took Monday off!
It was a whirlwind yet awesome weekend!
I'd do it all again in a heartbeat!
