No restaurant food, yay!

Friday, August 08, 2014

I slept in til about 11 this morning. I got up and sat around while I shook the cobwebs out of my brain. Then I made a veggie burger and a few mini-rice cakes for breakfast.

After I ate I got off my butt and did what I said I would -- cleaned out the cabinet. And then cleaned out a second cabinet for good measure. I'm so glad I finally got it done, but it was depressing how much stuff had gotten lost in that cabinet and gone bad. Gonna have to be more careful not to let that happen anymore, it's such a waste of money. Dh was kind of mind blown when he saw the bag of trash that needed to be carried downstairs just from cleaning out those two cabinets. But now I have room for stuff, so yay!

Once I got the cabinets cleaned out I did some butt sitting to give my back a break. I was trying the method of not doing too much in one go so that it would hopefully not start to hurt, and that seemed to work. After I saw for a few, I got up and gathered up two loads of laundry for dh to do this evening.

Soon after that it was time to eat. I had roast with potatoes and carrots in the slow cooker, so that's what we had. I wasn't in the mood for it, but it's what I had on the menu. It was actually quite tasty though and I was glad to have it once it was done. I had lots of carrots, not lots of potatoes, and some meat.

After we ate we decided to run to the library. I had some stuff there to be picked up and I wanted to go ahead and get it. That's all we did though... as in, we didn't stop anywhere and spend money. Which I was super proud of. When we got home we gathered most of the rest of the stuff in the current car and brought it all upstairs. I think all that's left are some stray reusable grocery bags that we're keeping in there in case we need a bag before we get the new car.

When we got back upstairs dh took the laundry down and got it started while I did pretty much nothing. I talked to my mom for a few, and took a shower. I had a snack, one of those little snack containers that has some cookie sticks and Nutella in it. My grandmother sent it to me in a package today and it sounded so good. I haven't really had sweet things in a while and it was a nice treat, and portion controlled.

Then it was dinner time and I had a salad with chicken and a baked potato with salsa and a bit of sour cream. Mostly dh and I just hung out here together after that until it was time for him to go pick up the laundry. When he brought it up, it was time for me to call my grandmother {for the last call of the day}, so I talked to her while I folded and put away all the laundry. It is nothing short of amazing to me how much clothing I have that I forgot about because it has been sitting in that laundry hamper. I feel like I have a whole new wardrobe. And the time I was running all over the house putting things away definitely burned some calories, I was panting when I was done. Horray for a little bit of exercise!

Tomorrow dh and I will probably just stay home all day. I'm going to see if I can get him to help me move some stuff around in my room to get closer to getting it cleaned up, and otherwise I don't think we're gonna do much. There's a slight possibility I will be able to go pick up the car tomorrow, but more likely we will just hang out here all day. Maybe watch a movie, and I'm sure I will do lots of reading.

For the rest of tonight, just some quality book time. I'm not as concerned about going to bed early cause dh will be home tonight, so if i can't sleep and am bored I have him here to entertain me. Love Friday nights!

Hope everyone had a great day!

that is a big deal not spending $$ outside!! Why do I feel I have to eat or drink something when I leave the house for more than ten minutes??I got in that habit on the way home from work. Stopped it awhile back to keep saving for vacation and some bills.

Great job all the way around!!! And good idea to sit and give your back a rest in between. When I first started working in the hospital many moons ago, we used to have back patients all the time in continuous pelvic traction for days at a time, then the theory (still in use) that the more you move the less back pain you have. Clearly whoever thought that one up never experienced back pain. I use one of those heat patches when my back bothers me or I use the heating pad with moist heat. It helps for a while. And you cleaning out your cabinets reminds me that I need to clean out the pantry. I am sure we have stuff in there that should get thrown out although having a 23 year old son living with me and his friends visiting so often I doubt it.

Hope you have a very relaxing evening and the book you are reading is a good one. When I picked hubby up from PT yesterday I had to wait a bit and I was just in the middle of a good article in one of their magazines so I took it with me to finish and will return to them on Tuesday. I just had to finish that article!!! emoticon

Sounds like you had a good day too. I'm leaving for Iowa in the morning with my friend. My son is going to let me use his car while he is at work. Deanna and I are planning on going to the gym so that will help me stay on track because I have no food or cooking utensils at the house.
