I'm my own worst enemy

If you've been following my blog you know that I yoyo'd for 8 months. Discovered insulin resistant and I'm on a new diet. Lost 17 lbs and pretty much stopped doing what I was supposed to do.

I'm asking why? Why am I choosing not to exercise every day. I have time.

Why am I coming home and sitting on the couch instead of taking care of the house?

So I'm asking my friends to help me be accountable. I am committing to the following every day for 1 week:

-follow diet to the letter
-exercise at least 30 min every day
-drink my water quota daily
-smile every day and forgive myself.

See you next Monday for the response. So far today I have the exercise and the diet. Almost have the water.

    You've been doing so great! Sometimes we just end up sabotaging ourselves. Why, I'm not really sure. Are we afraid of success? Beat down the self-sabotage - you are a winner and you can do this!

    When I read your blog title I thought "Hey! I am my worst enemy, too! Aren't we all?" lol. I know people who have consistently prioritized eating healthy and fitness, but I have never ever been one of them....but I sure would like to be! I like your goals, especially the forgiving yourself part. If every day we do better than our worst day, then we are moving in the right direction!

    You have some EXCELLENT goals in place but I would like to offer a suggestion. A good mini goal is something to build on, working towards a permanent goal . It should be something obtainable and help build confidence and motivation.
    That being saying you will do this EVERY day and do it all can set yourself up for emotional failure. Leave some wiggle room. By that I mean...

    1. I will exercise for 30 minutes five days out of seven. If you have a real rough day, and decide I just can't do it have still left room for success and motivation by an accomplished goal. You can still exercise all seven days but you ...YOU have given yourself permission to skip two days. YOU are in control.

    2. I will improve on my diet by balancing my carb/protein ratio and look for healthier combinations. I can do this by logging five days out of seven. Again, you are setting yourself up for success.

    3. I will start every day with a smile and at the end of the day...tell myself everything I did right and look at areas I want to improve in.

    Then the next week or month...set up another mini goal to build on it. I have learned I cannot be perfect. In fact, my perfectionism quality is the fastest road to failure for me. Finally, I have learned...I can baby step at a time.

    Hugs and I KNOW you are going to do your best, which is ALWAYS good enough. I too have insulin resistance. Carbs really don't play nice with me. Not even complex carbs . SIGH

    Yes we are here for you, glad you are back and getting your exercise and healthy eating going again. Water too so important as for smiles emoticon A big one from me to you. emoticon

    i hear you! I feel the same. But, I know how much better I feel when I do get off the couch. But the fact that you and I struggle with this internal crisis tells me that we know what we need to do but lose the fight and end up going over "to the dark side" LOL
    If we can just do this for 1 day, 3 days, 1 week....2 weeks, all one day at a time after a month it will become easier. out of 12 months, what's 30 days? WE CAN DO THIS!!
    YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! I'm committed and you say you are, SO LET'S DO THIS!!!!!! emoticon
