Invest in Clothes that Fit

I just bought new jeans from "Woman Within", size 16w (down from 18). I wore them to the mall and then tried on a pair of Lee Classic Fit size 16m (medium). The Lee jeans fit better!!
The "woman's" size looked so much better than the baggy clothes I have been wearing. But when I looked at them in the dressing room mirror I could see that they were poochy in the front and baggy in the butt.
When I was at home I thought I needed the extra room in the front for my tummy (couldn't see the back very well) But the Lee jeans fit in all the right places! I still have a tummy, but I don't need all that extra fabric. I still have a flat butt, and I certainly don't need the extra fabric back there!
OK, so this blog isn't to brag about my jean size...it is really about clothes that FIT...at ANY size and what a difference it makes in how you feel about yourself and your progress.
I knew I was losing weight (slowly). And I knew my clothes were getting loose on me. But I had forgotten how good it felt to wear clothes that fit and be happy with the shape they reveal.
16 is still bigger then I would like to be. But it is much smaller than the XXL pants I was wearing before (I wouldn't buy jeans any bigger than an 18, in fact I only have 2 pair of jeans from my original size 16 phase...on the way up).
Baggy, ill fitting clothes make you look bigger and sloppier than you are. This will make you feel dreary and droopy. It is also more difficult to work out in clothes that don't fit right. Things slide and rub and flap...
No matter what your size is, wear clothes that fit you properly. I am not saying to buy a whole new wardrobe, just a few pieces, an outfit or two, that really fit you properly and make the most of the figure/physique you have NOW. Think of the show "what not to wear". Taking the time to find a few key pieces that flatter your figure can make a huge difference in how you look...and that impacts how you feel.
I am walking taller, head up, smiling at people, enjoying my day more. I am more social and more fun to be around. My husband even said I am looking younger!
I like the me I am becoming. I can see the old me (before the weight gain, health problems, and depression) coming back. The successful me, the me that had control of my life, a thriving career, a social calendar. I am ready for her to come back. I saved some of her clothes...If they don't fit quite right I will either have them altered...or buy new ones as money permits.
For right now I am so motivated to keep moving in the right direction. I am ready to do a "better butt" work out tonight and I am going to call my neighbor to set up a buddy work out tomorrow!
After your morning workout tomorrow, treat yourself to a little trip down town and buy yourself at least one thing that fits and makes you feel good. Even if it is just a pair of sunglasses, it will be a start, a reward for all your hard work.
