So many people have at least heard of a C25k or Couch to 5k program. It is a program that has a person gradually build up running skills to run a 5k, even if they don't run regularly.

So then, what is with the D25k, well that is a desk to 5k. At work the fitness center is doing the program over lunch two days a well. I've never really been a runner. Even when I did my marathon I was a slow walk jogger. So me and some people from work decided to sign up. I knew I was going to have to miss many classes, but still wanted to try.

What do I want out of this:
1. increase my fitness
2. Go from a jog to actually a run - which is a much more comfortable gait
3. Do something I have never done before
4. see my times improve
5. socialize

So I missed the first two formal classes. But me and a work bud did our first Wednesday after an all day meeting (ugh).

I missed Friday due to a group lunch, but did it this AM.

So I am on track! It is starting off slow, 60 sec run 90 walk. But I am keeping up a running gait so I am thrilled.

it is just an ace ankle bandage. Not sure if it is helping or not. I did the jog this AM but my foot doesn't like doing the push off. I may need to take a break. I was thinking the week before my trip was a good time to rest up and avoid injury.

Meh ... slow is relative right? In my head, you are wayyyyy faster than everyone sitting watching tv :)

What going on with the ankle though? And what kinda wrap? (WIfey has Achilles tendonitis and wraps it with KT tape ... does it help? I dunno. What are you trying?)

And ohhh... just over 2 weeks until your trip! You must be excited. Heck, I feel excited for you :)

It has been going pretty good-ish. I am still pretty slow, but not the slowest. The people I generally run with are AWESOME!

My ankle has been giving me some issue so I got a wrap and am deciding what to do about it.

I also had to send my running shoes back since there was a flaw that was giving me issues.

    Overall pretty good!

I agree with Gaelene ... you'll do great I am sure.

And I think all of the goals 1-5 will be realized. (The socialization one is one of the best ones to me by the way!)

And my wifey said she thinks the C25K (or in your case, the D25K) helps with speed for sure. While a lot think it mainly gets them to the 5K distance, she thinks it does both that, and increase your speed. Her reasoning is that since you start with shorter runs, you tend to run faster than if you were thinking of running the entire 5K ... so you go faster. As you increase your distance, you also keep the speed .... at least that is what wifey found to be true.

We might just have to change the acronym meaning of SEM to Super Exercising Machines! :)

You''ll do great; I've just started the Couch to 5 k again too, since it's been so long!

We can keep each other company. Good luck!
