Talked to my son

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

Sunday Dalton got to call me. We got to talk for about 10 minutes. It was so good to hear his voice! He's got a cough now, I told him it's probably due to the climate change. Texas heat vs Georgia heat...quite a difference. As we talked I was holding it together pretty good until I heard his voice falter and I asked if he was crying, he was, then I lost it too. He misses home (as expected). I put the phone to his dog Sissy's ear and he said hello to her, her ears perked up and she started looking for him, lol. I wish I could go to his graduation in September, but I can't afford a plane trip nor can I drive that distance by myself and afford the gas it would cost. A couple of the parents on his Company facebook page said they will be there and promised to upload video and photos to the page so I can see it all. I miss him so much and think of him daily. I have started writing to him since I now have his address. I can't wait to see him once he graduates AIT. I know I was looking forward to a quiet house, but my empty nest is too quiet. I am so proud of him for his choice I just miss him terribly. My next older son is also in the Army, but he is stationed at Ft. Sill...just 45 minutes away so I get to see him now and then when he has the money to come down here.

Ok, crying/soap box over.
