Prayers Requested --- knee surgery
Tuesday, July 29, 2014
Tomorrow afternoon I will be having a scope of my L knee. On May 30th, my knee locked up, then pain shot through it. After a visit to the ER, x-rays, and an MRI, I was told I have a complex meniscus tear. There are no guarantees that surgery will help. As a matter of fact, I had the same surgery on my R knee 15 years ago and have had worse mobility since then. If I don't have surgery, there is a chance I will end up in a wheelchair. After discussing all of the options with my son (he's a neurosurgical PA) and my doc, I feel I am making the best possible decision for me. I have to give surgery a try.
I found out earlier today that I will be the last surgical patient of the day as replacement surgeries are done first. This will mean a long wait at the hospital and a late night getting home. When I went for pre-op today, I found my surgeon didn't have written clearance from my nephrologist (I know that had been sent; probably sitting in a mailbox somewhere) or from my cardiologist. Both were taken care of before I left the hospital today. All of my pre-op testing was fine, so I'm good to go.
I won't be very active on Spark for a while as I won't be able to sit unless I have my leg elevated. Difficult for me to do while sitting at my computer desk.
Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow. I'm praying this will be a successful surgery and hope to be back on my feet before too long!
