It feels like September but sunny skies prevail today. I watched the goofy conclusion to The Bachelorette last night so I'm feeling a bit tired since I got only 5.50 hours of sleep last night...thank you fitbit!

My WI perked me up however, since the scale said 136.0 lbs. which is a 1.6 lb. drop from last week. I have done WELL with setting a regular habit far 14 days in a row of no eating after dinner. I have also conquered the daily caloric intake of less than 1,850 calories each day for 14 days straight. Yes, when you focus your MIND to a goal the body will follow. It has been helpful that during the month of July it has been necessary to remind the seniors in my fitness classes the benefits & importance of physical activity, Canada's Food Guide & staying hydrated...alas that H20 benefit. This is all part of Ontario's government plan regarding "Fall Prevention" amongst seniors.

I have been researching some online projects which have been challenging my techie skills but a great BRAIN workout. Who needs LUMINOSITY???

Also, I have been supporting a SORE mate who is experiencing his 1st bout with SHINGLES. It has been hard for me to understand his pain...he likens it to a severe sunburn...the aftereffect pain he compares to tingles & prickles of his nerve endings...Each day it seems to change to a different body location pain-wise & even with a new prescription for relief from the pain, it hasn't proven to be completely successfully in removing it in entirety.

It is located around his trunk area & clothing rubbing or touching sensitive skin is the source of some of the pain. He has past the sore stage, more so the healing aftermath which again is the pain. His doctor has told him to be sure the vaccine will be effective for more concurrent bouts of it...yes, they can come back repeatedly, he should wait 1 year after he heals from this attack.

Needless to say, I don't plan to wait in case I contract it. My hubby's immune system is suppressed due to his crohn's disease which had flared up,...(now seems to be in a remission state for about 2 out of the 3 weeks he has had the shingles)

I, on the other hand, feel stronger with my health but still won't chance that pain outlook & plan to protect myself with the vaccine during my yearly checkup next month. My communication with seniors is also a factor in my decision.

We are presently making a list of summer essentials to purchase before our winter vacation next February. I always buy seasonally to reduce the costs.

Besides, it's more difficult to find sunscreen spray during the middle of winter!

Have a great week everyone, let's hope August brings us more sun & a little SUMMER heat...but NIX THE TORNADOS, RIGHT???

Sorry to hear about Hubby's pain. I hope it does not last too much longer. Congrats on the weight loss. Finding the balance is the key. Thanks again for this Friday.

Good for you on the weight loss, you know how to do it.

So sorry about Your Mr. I feel for him. I was 6 months-- maybe more getting over shingles. I do believe it is where and how you get them. Mine seemed to attach to nerves , I wanted to cry all the time, I was weak and felt so sorry for myself.

So you are saying I can get the vaccine after the fact? My Doctor did not tell me that.

    Hugs Mary
