Why do I need to change my habits?
Because my children are learning my behaviors. I don't want them to face the same struggles that I have faced in my life with my weight and health.

Why do I need to eat better and stop eating after dinner?
Because my children are now munching unhealthy snacks after dinner and finding ways to have "junk" food when I think I have none in the house. (Sneaking cups of chocolate chips that we have for baking.)

My children are following my nasty habits and I HAVE TO CHANGE. I HAVE TO BE STRONG and realize that it is mind over matter. I have the control to eat it or put it down and walk away, I MUST walk away. I MUST be healthy in what I eat but in my actions. I need to move and be active and engage my children in activities instead of letting them watch tv or play on technology. I have to, it is my job.

I will get up in the morning, Wednesday, July 9th, 2014 and walk. (I must specify the date because if I say "tomorrow" and I don't do it there is always another "tomorrow" and I will just brush it off...) I will eat a healthy breakfast and fix them both a healthy breakfast.

I will write an index card and my reasons for being healthy and I will pull it out any time that I have the urge to eat when I am not hungry.

The card will read:
1.) I am strong mentally.
2.) I can and will do this.
3.) The kids are watching, always. Are you behaving in a way you want them to behave?
4.) You need to be healthy and active so you can enjoy your life with your family.
5.) Get up and move now so you can get up and move later.

I love my kids and it is now or never, I must do this for them before it is too late for them to learn from me.
I will make a change. I will be a healthy role model. I will succeed.

Oh gosh, what a wake up call. But now you're aware of the kids eating unhealthy foods and you're determined to change habits--terrific! emoticon emoticon
