Happy Independence Day Eve!

Thursday, July 03, 2014

Is anyone out celebrating tonight? Columbus has their fireworks show on the 3rd so all the suburbs can do theirs on the 4th. They're expecting 400,000 people downtown for the show tonight. That's about 399.000 people too many for my tastes. We went down there a couple years when we first moved up here, but it's just too many people. {I'm really not a people person!}

Today has been a pretty good day, though. I decided against going to the gym. I was kinda tired and achy, and TOM has arrived full force, so I took a pass. After 3 days in a row, my very out of shape body probably needed a day to rest and recover. I pushed myself too hard back in the winter and then ended up having to miss weeks of working out while I waited to recover, so, lesson learned!

I did get in a little bit of exercise, though. We did our grocery shopping today, which consisted of going to 2 big box stores. Walking from one side of those to the other at a fairly fast pace burns a couple calories! Usually we only stay on the food side of both stores, but today we needed things on the other side of the stores also. So I figured I'd use that as a chance to get in a bit of exercise and hauled butt across the stores to what we needed. Not a lot of exercise, but enough to get my blood pumping.

I've done pretty well on food. I had eggs with salsa, light toast and cherries for breakfast. Then we went to Chipotle for lunch. I had a salad with a little bit of brown rice, some beans, sauteed onions and peppers, and a bit of cheese and sour cream. All in all, I was pretty pleased with myself. Having the salad {which meant they put lettuce underneath everything} helped fill me up with only the minuscule calories from the lettuce. I didn't have any dressing on it, just the little bit of sour cream. Then for dinner I had a frozen meal and some veggie soup. That didn't fill me up as much as it usually does, though, so I ended up eating a 100 cal pack of almonds a couple hours later. Snack tonight will be some apricots and a whole wheat thin bagel with reduced fat cream cheese.

I'm hoping I can get dh to go to the park and walk with me tomorrow. The community center is closed for the 4th, so I can't go workout there, but the weather is supposed to be nice and we could get in a walk outside. The opportunity to walk outside in July is almost unheard of in Columbus, so I'd like to take advantage of it.

Welp, time to relax and read while I wait for bedtime. Hope everyone had a great Thursday!

    I think taking a rest day was a good idea. I am always pushing myself too hard and then yep sure enough I end up too sore to move for days and days and that throws everything off. I am taking a rest day too after my crazy day yesterday.

    I hope you have a great 4th.
