Coaches and Parents

Saturday, June 28, 2014

Coaches and parents can really ruin the games for the kids. They look like huge fools, embarrass their kids and set an extremely poor example of sportsmanship. That is what I experienced last night. I am embarrassed to say most of it came from our team. It is okay for a coach to be upset about a call at home but to start arguing with the ump shouldn't happen. Then one of the parents started criticizing his pitching calls just to add fuel to the fire. It got even uglier as the evening went on. More parents and more coaches got into it. The ump almost called the game. They were setting such poor examples for our kids. With examples like this I can see why some kids are poor sportsmen. My daughter was called out on a tag running from 1st to 2nd. Her coach was arguing that call even though she was telling him she was out. I am glad she was honest. I don't even want to go to the game tonight if it is going to be a repeat of last night. Last week the fighting was between our own coaches in front of the kids.

That isn't good. Perhaps you should call the coach and have a talk before tonight? emoticon
