Surviving Crunch Time

Friday, June 27, 2014

It's busy here.

I'm a soap maker and I do festivals and markets as part of my business. The next three weekends are back-to-back shows and now it's crunch time. So I've been on my feet non-stop preparing. My foot is still swollen and not cooperating, so no running or walking for exercise.

In this midst of this crazy, I took time out today to take my dad north for a dr appointment. He was almost completely silent the whole day and twitched in his seat the whole car ride. So not him. He seems to be declining fast. :(

So I'm in survival mode. My five words and the 5% Challenge are after-thoughts to just getting through this weekend...and the next...and the next.

Though I must give myself credit that I have planned better than last year's festivals. I started earlier. I've given myself breaks. And I've been more realistic about what I can and can't do. I'm learning.

So for yesterday and today...

Exercise - no, thought lots of standing work
Home - no, delegating what I can right now
Family - doctor with dad, taking kids with me to festival
Business - yes, yes,'s sucking up all my time right now.
Fun - took time out for date night with my husband
5% Challenge - drinking more water, ordering water when out...but I'm not tracking it or my fruits & veggies. My nose is to the grindstone and it's hard to to keep track of anything else but the work that needs done.

This too shall pass.

You do what you have to do. The diet has more of an effect of your weight than the exercise although it will mess up our flight plan.... it's more important you do what you have to do for you. Would it be better to put aside the challenge at this time? Only you can decide that. Whatever you do, my prayers are with you.

When I went through a few years of great difficulty with my mother, my DH used to tell me to "go with the flow"; sometimes that didn't help! But often it did, and I think that is what you are trying to do now. Learning one's limits can be very hard, especially for achievers like yourself. I hope the busy weekends are manageable for you. emoticon
