Exhausting hearing

Thursday, June 26, 2014

We had a hearing today. Nothing terrible.

But exhasuting.

Mom is marginally intelligent, but keeps herself looking neat and clean.

Eldest child, age 19 is on her own, and coping, but not terrible capable of making her own decisions.

Youngest child, age 14, is in front of court for truancy. Mom cannot seem to work with the system, has had the kid on drugs since age 3, and the only diagnosis is "anxiety", but even the children services worker thinks there is something else . . . maybe aspergers or autism.

And since the DD board cannot even screen the boy until he has a diagnosis other than "anxiety", things are spinning around in limbo right now.

Generally, children services does not take behavior cases, but here, they believe that there is more to the story, and since mom is highly cooperative, the agency is pretty much doing what it is best at: making arrangements for second opinions at children's hospital, helping mom wade through the social services system, and helping her to know that FINALLY, someone is going to help HER with the fact that she cannot cope too well and help her son get whatever it is that he needs.

A Shout-out to children services!!
