+2.2 and Running from Zombies!!!

So I'm sad to say that I gained 2.2 pounds this week.

I'm really REALLY trying not to get stressed out. This weekend has been interesting to say the least. I've had to grow up a bit concerning family issues, and I'm a little fatigued because of it. I did have a lot of Chinese this weekend and although I ordered only vegetarian meals of course they were covered in sauce and oil so I know that has a lot to do with the weight gain this week.

Oh and I don't think I've mentioned it but my husband and I are doing a Biggest Loser Challenge at home and each week the one who looses the most gets a special (non-food) treat. Like 2 hours game play, 3 hours personal time, $50 to spend however... For two weeks I was winning but this week my wonderful hubby lost over 2 pounds coming back from a +.8 gain the week before!

So needless to say i've hit the gym this morning and I'm planning on (if the rain lets up) going running or hitting the gym again tonight. I'm going to kick butt next week and I'm really going to focus on my sweet drink intake!

Oh oh I'm also training for my next 5K - the Electric Zombie Run! I want to finish in under 30 minutes and therefore be a survivor! (over 30 minutes we get a "you're a zombie now" medal). I'm planning on training by step machine... because my trainer said "If you can climb stairs, you can run a 5K" and I concur! I can only last about 5 minutes before I feel like I'm going to pass out!

    How do I train for a 5k you ask? By running, outdoors, rain or shine. Then by doing sprints and interval training in a gym or on a track. I think you already lift weights, but if not, get on the leg circuit at least 1-2 times a week. Abs and back are important too. If your center is strong you will be faster.

    If you want to run 5k in less than 30 minutes you have obviously got to run a sub 10 minute mile, so use a watch, a running app, etc to make sure you stay on pace while you are training. You can do it! You are a SURVIVOR! :)
