Taught hubby something lol

Friday, June 20, 2014

It is so funny to me that I taught my hubby how to cut veggies. Seems like a simple task anyone could do! Since my hand is unable to be used and it is my dominate hand I have been a little frustrated. So for dinner my husband said he would be my hands! :-) So I got out the celery, tomatoes, onion, red pepper, carrots and the cutting board and knife. I stood to the side to wait for the action to start. He picked up the knife and the bunch of celery in each hand. He looked at them, the cutting board then me. I said "what's up?" He said he had no idea what to do. I was thinking...really? :-) So I walked him through everything. As we were eating I asked him if he really needed me. He said he had no idea! I just told him thanks for listening to me. He usually has an alternate opinion, but this time he listened and asked if he did things right. I told him he did a very nice job. Usually I do all the cooking and prep. But it looks like I am going to need help around here for awhile and I need to be better about asking. I just don't like feeling that I am bothering people or burdening them. I know I need the help. It is just frustrating having my dominate hand not able to be used. Lol I type with my other hand or a stylus wedged in my fingers of my messed up hand. The family just laughs if they catch me trying to do something for myself when I clearly need help lol
Well we will see what I can and can't do this weekend. . It has been 4 days now. Only 6 more weeks...maybe.

I know it's hard to ask for help, especially when you're the type that is used to being independent. I think this was a great lesson for both of you. Hopefully your hand heals quickly. emoticon
