Don't pull the trigger!

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

My 5% challenge assignment for yesterday was to think about our food triggers or actions that trigger eating behaviors. I wish I would have thought about this yesterday instead of today. I had a very stressful 12+ hour work day yesterday. When I left work I drove 20 miles to the nearest town and bought my cryptonite, a pint of salted caramel truffle ice cream. I drove back home, got a spoon, turned on the tv, sat down and ate the ice cream right from the container until it was empty. As soon as I finished it I had guilt, regrets, and heartburn. So lesson learned: my triggers are stress, ice cream, and really any sweet/salty combination. On the upside, this was my first ice cream binge in several months and I am back on track today. I rarely make ice cream easily accessable to me because I know I lose control when I have it around but obviously if I want it bad enough I will get it.

If you can name them, you can avoid them. Good luck!

You recognise your triggers, lesson learned. It does sound lovely though but once you start it is so hard to stop this will be so common with sparkfriends . Good luck with the challenge

Awe, I hear ya! I'm an ice cream lover too.....& I can't keep it in the house either. It's my all time comfort food! Good job getting back on track! One day at a time...we CAN do it!

emoticon Once that Container is Open, it is nearly impossible to close it. That is why I have learned to only buy SMALL Containers or Individually Wrapped servings. Although I have been known to open more than One Individual Serving!
