Uncle Not Improving
Wednesday, June 18, 2014
Well my uncle is not exactly improving but instead is going slightly down hill. The social worker caught him out of bed at midnight and was trying to leave the room crying. They have him on anti-depressant pills and he's been on them since I was a child so I don't know if what he's experiencing is normal or is just one of the side effects of the pills. He's tired, still a little weak, and has had 2 falls at the rehab facility. He is also talking crazy and not making much sense half the time which I think might be because of the medicines he is on but again I'm unsure. I will see if I can talk to the doctor or have the nurses let me know what medicines he is on so I can research them and find out what the side effects are. I hope he starts improving more so he can come home. I'm not even sure when he's going to be coming home... still no word yet on a date. I'm hoping in another week or two but if he isn't ready then he obviously needs to stay longer. We got some medicare papers in the mail the other day stating all the claims made by the hospital he was at, the different doctors/procedures, and ambulance. The grand total they charged was $27,000 and medicare covered/paid $18,000. There was a section that said the maximum you can be billed is $2,500 and that his supplemental insurance will be billed and we will see what they cover or don't cover. So far everything has worked out in the billing aspect since I got the ambulance bill down to 0.
