Storm is brewing over home education and equality

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Ah.

I just LOVE being called an elitist because I chose to home educate my children.

I was told that my choice to home educated my children shows that I think that my children are worth more than other people's children, and therefore I am judging the parents of those children. Not only that, apparently the choice of a judge to send his/her kids to a public school that is NOT local is somehow wrong, too!

Just like my parents thought about people who sent their children to Catholic school when I was a kid.

Since when is making ANY choice for one's family automatically a judgement of other families?

Is my decision to take better care of my body automatically a judgement of others?

Are my actions in taking care of my car an indictment against others who simply drive their cars?

What?

Are we all supposed to do/be the same so that someone else does not get hurt feelings?

What is this?

Of course you have the right to parent as you see fit! Some people speak out of jealousy, some out of some misguided thought that they will convert you to their way of thinking.
No judgment here. I am not a parent!
