I have to agree with BABYSOX and NELLJONES.

I've often thought about some of the decisions I've made . . . but. . . . great big BUT .... if I'd done anything differently, I wouldn't be where I am and who I am today . . . and I wouldn't want to miss this for the world.

My son. My first born son has down syndrome. I was not sure how to handle that as a new parent. 35+ years ago the resources available to new parents were not what they are today. I was fearful and scared. I thought my dreams were shattered. All those things you dream about with your first little boy seemed to be just that dreams that would never materialize.

Little did I know the lessons my son would teach me. Who would think that he would at times be my source of strength? He has taught me to love unconditionally. There is always a smile and a hug waiting when I see him. Yep, he is one of the lights of my life!

I have several other things that appeared to be bad, but were the stepping stones to wonderful things - a divorce and the loss of a job.

All of my biggest blessings have been the ones God chose for me rather than the ones I chose for myself.

In 2010, I lost my job after 12 plus years. It turned out to be a pivotal moment in my life. I was extremely unhealthy, workaholic, etc. Now I choose life over work in most of my decisions and I am so much more balanced. emoticon

I lost my job in the early 80's due to the recession then. I found one that changed the direction of my career for the positive and led to my meeting my husband. From panic to "paradise" through one reduction in force!
