I need a challenge!

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

I have decided that I can't sit here on the days that I don't have the grands. I no longer need to make schedules or stuff for the new school year, so I think I need to make a challenge for myself for the next two months. So now what will be my challenge? I know it should be weight loss or exercise but I have lost motivation for those right now, which is the reason for the challenge. I have a reward if I meet the challenge. My plan is to post every day about my challenge. So I am turning to my Sparkfriends for suggestions.

I used a sticker system for years; would pick just a few things that if I did them daily it would make my life better. If it was making me feel negative, I'd drop it, i.e. not eating after supper. Most became habits and stuck, cumulatively making my life better. It might be making my bed before I get dressed, 10 minutes of exercise before I shower, walking Sugar at least once a day weather permitting, putting the family room in order before turning in for the night, etc. But the void you are feeling wit retirement, I filled at first with a part time job. Other's I know found a volunteer job. I also took some classes through the Donovan (Sr. college enrichment classes) program. I learned to play the dulcimer (not well, but had fun). The list is endless seek your passion now! Currently it's gardening and I'm really enjoying my yard. Start small, grow your own salads, I'm doing that now in 3 big pots on my deck outside the kitchen!

Do you need to do any deep cleaning or just cabinet/drawers etc?
Are you getting all your water each day and of course freggies?
How about finding some neighbor or friend that needs some extra attention?

I know when we think of challenges it is usually weight loss and eating right and those are great but at times we might miss out on the little things.

Let us know how you are doing. It is an adjustment to go from a full time job to retirement. How well I know!
