Stunning Strawberries Week 2 --- Father's Day

Thursday, June 12, 2014

For Father's day, we will be busy most of the early part of the day with our normal church services & then DH has to co-officiate a funeral for an elderly church member who passed on yesterday. Then perhaps later in the evening I can take him to his favorite restaurant for a special meal. I already know what he will order as he's so predictable, LOL. ---Prime Rib with a lobster tail on the side, baked potato & salad @ Outback. ( Did I mention, this is my favorite place too! emoticon ) . I will call my own dad & speak with him by phone. Currently he is living in SC but he & my mom & younger brother are searching for a place to move back to NC so they will be closer to myself & my 2 other siblings.

I guess the memory that sticks out the most of my father is not one of Father's Day as Daddy was always a hardworking man, never stopping to rest or have fun. But I recall one early morning, Mom had gone to work in the strawberry fields & I was still asleep. I awoke to hearing my father scream for help. When I got out to the field by the house, I learned that he was trying to hook up the disk to the tractor & the disk fell on his foot. My cousin across the street heard the screams & we were able to get Daddy untrapped & to the hospital where he foot was saved.
Not the best memory but one that is definitely still a reminder to cherish each moment.

You undoubtedly have a busy day planned. Hope you have a nice dinner and a great time together eating at Outback.

What a scary memory of the time your dad almost lost his foot. It's good to remember things like that because like you said it's reminds you to cherish every moment. I hope your parents can find a place to live in NC so that they are closer to you and your siblings.

That must have been scary to hear your dad scream like that! Sure glad your father did not lose his foot from that accident! That will be nice if he moves and will be closer to you.

Sounds like you will have a lovely Father's Day.
It's always to remember special moments.
My best memory is when we arrived in Australia and
my dad waiting for us at the airport. I was 8, didn't speak
a word of English and had just flown from Greece with
    my brother. Unaccompanied at that.

We celebrate Father's Day in September here. When I lived
in Canada I had to buy my card in June and save it so that I
    could send it in September.

    Have a great Day.
