Back Home And The Honolulu Leg Of Our Trip

Monday, June 09, 2014

Well we are back home from our two weeks in Hawaii. For the most part it was a good trip. The Honolulu part was the best of the two parts. Lots of strife in the Hilo part. I'll be adding some pictures each day to this blog from our trip. You know...the dreaded "family" vacation pictures! emoticon

The week in Honolulu was great, except for one day when I need to vent (see two blog posts down). The hotel messed up our reservation. We were suppose to have a partial ocean view and a king bed, but ended up with two regular size beds. So they upgraded us to a full ocean view room for free (with a king bed!)! emoticon We did make the Luau at the hotel and we had a good time. I never did really get any beach time in though. I went for a walk on the beach on the Saturday we were there, but it started to rain and I had to turn back. emoticon The next closest I got to the beach was the hotel pool with hubby's kids and grandkids. This was like 20 steps or so from the beach. But it was OK, we enjoyed time at the pool with the family. Plus a few visits to the pool side bar.

Hubby and I took one day to just drive around the island of Oahu, which was fun. I didn't workout while there and I didn't log what I ate. But I must have done OK as I was only up like 3-4 pounds when we got home. I was worried it would be more although my clothes never felt any tighter while there. emoticon

Other, non-Hawaii things that happened...my granddaughter Malia graduated from Kindergarten! emoticon

And you may heard about the awful shooting here yesterday. This happened a few miles from our home. We had been to the Pet Smart across the parking lot from that Walmart just 20 mins before the shooting happened there. So sad about the lives lost. Please Pray for the families involved.

One of our turtles mad an escape while we were gone, the neighbor lady found her in her yard and returned her. I think she (the turtle..not the neighbor lady) was trying to lay eggs. She's back in the pond and doing fine, but we've now closed off all the escapes out of the back yard. emoticon

OK...Honolulu pictures!

Breakfast one morning:

Honolulu from the air (the green patch of trees was our hotel):

Diamond Head from the air:

Interstate H1 (not sure how it's an interstate highway...and I was looking for the California exit! emoticon ):

Hubby and his grandsons:

Hubby and both of his daughters:

This tunnel is one mile long!:

OK..that'll be it for today! I'm glad to be back to work today as I think I need a vacation from our vacation! emoticon Have a great rest of Monday!
