My Three Ps

Monday, June 09, 2014

Remember that old TV show called "My Three Sons?" Simpler times and a peek into the life that some of the early TV writers must have thought we would all seek to achieve. Actually, that has nothing to do with what I'm going to blog about, but my three ps made me think about the three sons! I have a wandering mind this morning.

Here are the three words beginning with the letter P that I focused on this morning during my walk.

Plan ahead: If I don't plan, I always fail. If I do plan, sometimes I change those plans, but at least I've given it some thought. Planned my meals for the week, planned my exercise (groan), plan for staying out of the pits (oh my...another p) all adds up to a better day for me.

Persistence: I've seen this word a lot lately, and it is critical for me and I suspect for lots of other people. So, I will work on my persistence...again and again and again!!!

Patience: For some reason I seem to think that if I don't get immediate results or outcome of all my efforts, it isn't worth trying again today. How stupid is that!! I guess we never really outgrow that childish "I want it now" behavior. Another long range goal is to work on my patience!!

What are your "p" words, if any? I think there could be tons of them, but when walking I find that I can't focus on more than about 3 at a time. Some new ones to think about would be fun, though. Have a great day, friends, and be sure to think of me when you think of a 'p' word that motivates you!!

PS: Would one of you grammar/punctuation experts tell me how to write "Ps" correctly? Writing P's is NOT correct because it isn't a possessive, and Ps, while plural, looks weird. Another thing to Ponder!!! emoticon

So "PLEASED" I came to "PEEK" at your "PAGE" and found this emoticon blog emoticon

emoticon with your three Ps but have found since Sparking for 4 years the planning P is second nature now for me. I "Pray" all the time for "Patience" with both myself and all those around me. Being "Persistent" is key for any success and "Patting" myself on the back and or being "Pleased" with my "Progress" is essential for me. emoticon

We all have come a long way and it's important to acknowledge that emoticon

Hip-Hip-Hooray for the three Ps and Jeannie's thought "Provoking" blog emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Love the idea of focusing on a few P words - mine are probably Pray, Play, and Patience (if I can only have 3 of them)

You're right about the plural of P. It is Ps. It looks crazy, but that is the "correct" way. Oh my, you have brought out the English teacher in me. (Blushing emoticon)

    Terrific blog, Jeanne.

For me it's definite Patience. I was dealt Patience in an extremely small quantity.

So much to think about and so well written. emoticon

LOVED YOUR THOUGHTFUL BLOG! emoticon I would add Positive; very important to look on the bright side of things while you persevere over the long haul. Positive is an emoticon attitude. Give yourself a emoticon for turning your walk into such a POSITIVE outcome! Look how much you accomplished while you were burning calories! Oh, and BTW, somewhere in the Bible it says that tribulation (trouble), worketh patience, so I guess it's something we develop, as we Persevere along the road to victory. I almost forgot to add my best "P", PRAYER, without which none of the above has much worth or meaning.

My favorite P word is Prayer. I could have never gotten to where I am...or for that matter, even started this journey, without PRAYER. emoticon

Another great one is Peace. Stress will do you in when you're trying to lose you need PEACE in your life, so you can focus on your health. emoticon

And of course, the best way to get that Peace is through Prayer...they go hand in PARTNERS! emoticon

And...where are the best Partners for your journey? Right here on SP. That's right...Spark PEOPLE! emoticon

A good P word for me is practical , because I have injuries I tend to be very determined and sometimes take on more much more than is practical. However my favourite P word is persevere for if I had given up I would never have made the strides I have.

Another wonderful Blog, I believe in you my wonderful friend. The first P word that comes to mind, for me, is Patience in how slow I'm losing as a lot of people would have thrown in the towel by now and given up. So I'd have to say if nothing else I'm persistent and truly believe one day I'll be a healthy weight & you will to. Jeannie I'm blessed with lots of patience & the fact is it's taken all my patience I have to live every day with stress mainly from my son & also money issues. There are some days I wish I could sail away on a yacht and leave all my stress behind at least for a long weekend or better yet a couple of weeks to re-charge my energy and lower my stress levels. Good for you for pre-planning as I don't always do that and know I should. I love blogs like yours that make me put my "thinking cap" on. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Jeannie, what a terrific post. You sure have been thinking about this stuff, and so that I don't have to, I'll adopt your three P's. I know, I'm At least I'm persistently persistent.
As for the apostrophe, here's the skinny on that. If you're referring to two Ps, it's without an apostrophe, but to make a single P plural you include an apostrophe. This rule has been developed to aid in comprehension. That made me laugh.

I think words beginning with P, to think about for me, are something to ponder upon!!

Possible not probable; All things are possible it one works towards that goal, no matter how big or small Probable is a "maybe" to me but more on the Positive end!!

Potential; I have to Potential to be anything I want to be

Provocative; Am I going to be provocative or more likely Proactive? Of course!!

Precarious; I stand on a very precarious brink of going backwards or forward. Which am I going to do? Again the positive sticks in my mind. Forward we go!!

As for the Ps or P's the computer spell check likes the P's as I do. In general, letters of the alphabet should take an apostrophe in the plural. Like P's and Q's
That's all from this neck of the woods. Thanks Jeanne, for a wonderful blog!

If you're asking about expressing more than one "P" in writing, it is indeed "P's." Not that I'm a little Pompous, of course, sweet Patootie.

I had to look it up but the proper abbreviation for the word postscript is P.S. Have a great day!

    P.S. Thank you for the 3 P's!

Another great blog, Jeanne! It showed lots of thought and is RIGHT ON! Very good in making the correlation with the P words! I think the apostrophe is correct in this instance, when using a single letter, I have seen other articles use the apostrophe in similar instances. I struggle with the same P's!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
