The first casualty of war is the plan

Monday, June 09, 2014

I have decided to try some blogging--more for myself but maybe you will find something that helps you too. I have just returned from a week long vacation with a friend, leaving my husband and kids at home. I am still trying to decide how the trip went from the standpoint of keeping on my program. I did great on the exercise front. I did not keep on track with eating as much as I wish I had--but certainly it could have been worse. We were on a cruise and so there was just so much food and alcohol available. Truthfully, I am disappointed but the scale was up just under 2 pounds so it was not an absolute disaster.

I need to make some very specific plans for when I am eating out as I will be traveling quite a bit this summer. That is the main thing I am thinking today. I need make a plan. Probably for me it is better just to make some things off limits or to set a limit like one alcoholic drink per day, a dessert every other day, etc. I am usually good at sticking to particular resolutions like these. So check back in and see if I have made this plan. I have company coming on Friday for a week so this is also a danger zone for me.

Thanks for reading!

No plan, just watch what you eat. Don't forget that you can have a bad day but remember it is just a bad day. Just forget it and move on and I am sure you will be fine.

    A tip for going out:

It is not always possible to order the healthiest of options so look at the plate and put half away and don't eat that side.

Yeah, if you have a plan, at least you have something specific to aim for. If it has worked well for you before, it is and especially good idea. Hope your summer goes well!
