Yesterday was the big day of the Belmont horse race. I went to the simulcast place which was packed with about 2500 people. To get my $2.00 ticket on California Chrome. (Chrome for short). I have seen interviews of Chrome's owner, and trainer how Chrome started out with his racing career, loosing several races before he got fast enough to make it to the Kentucky Derby, then the Preakness, and now the Belmont race. Hoping to get the title of the Triple Crown.
Well anyone watching, seen he never won it.
I wanted to see that little horse make History . After the race, the cameras were on the owner and trainer. My heart had already sunk before they even showed them. You could see them trying to hold back their tears as they were being interviewed. My tears were running down to my celery stick with peanut butter. Not because I lost my $2.00. But because I got so attached to that little horse and all its progress it made the past year. The horse that won, I didn't even pay attention to its name when it won. my mind was still on Chrome.
Which made me think that its a lot like us here on Sparkpeople. We are a lot like Chrome. Struggling to hit our goal weight is like winning the Triple Crown. All the hard work and seeing our pounds going up and down. Just like Chrome . Winning and loosing his races.
We might not hit goal weight,,,,, but what we did loose has made a big difference. Such as feeling more healthy and better about ourselves. Seeing our clothes fit better and more stylish. No matter how much we loose. Every pound makes a difference. And everyone that has followed your journey with you know how far you have come. Even if you didn't hit your goal.
The horse that won the race today will only be known as the horse that won the Belmont race. But California Chrome will be making History,,, as almost winning the Triple Crown.
