So, my goal for so long has to become a runner. I grew up with asthma, and at the time, cardio was discouraged. (they know better now of course) But exercise wasn't really encouraged when I was younger, particularly running. So... I never learned "how" to run. Over the years, I've tried the C25K program many times, and once came really close to finishing, but it became a mental block for me. Finally this spring, I joined a local running club. They were doing a Walk to 5K program. I figured, maybe if I had others there to encourage me and keep me accountable, I could do it.
I just started week 6 of the program this week and on Monday evening I finally did it! I ran 1 mile straight. WooHoo! It was a super slow mile, but it was a mile. I know I can work on my speed later, so I'm not terribly concerned with that. I'm just so excited to say that I CAN run.
