Day 9...Making the right choices

Wednesday, June 04, 2014

Today I felt a little pressure to make the right decisions regarding food while I was at work since I hadn't gone food shopping and didn't have my lunch and snacks packed, and I think I did okay!

Breakfast was a shake, not very exciting

AM snack was a bunch of grapes that managed to get me through the morning, barely! Luckily I went to lunch early!

At lunch, I picked from the salad bar and was proud of myself for resisting ordering diced chicken fingers to top my salad. And yes, I tried to sprinkle my dressing all fancy just for the picture!

I had a small potato roll as well.

I may have made my salad a bit too small in fear of turning it into a calorie bomb because an hour after lunch, I was starving! So out of my desk drawer came the snacks - 2 kinds of potato chips, some pretzels and a bag of raisinettes...I read all the nutrition information and debated for a while if I wanted to risk a lot of sodium, a lot of sugar or a lot of fat- each option had something particularly nasty about it, but I eventually settled on the pretzels.

Dinner was a homemade chicken fajita on a giant tortilla- someday soon I will switch out tortillas for a piece of lettuce!

Already added my food tracking points for tomorrow, unfortunately dinner at Outback Steakhouse with a friend is going to put me a bit over my range, but I'm not too worried- I may be eating a lot tomorrow, but I'll be filling up on a lot of healthy things instead of junk, and I can tone it back down on Thursday.

I think the pretzels were probably the best choice. I've taken to replacing buns and bread with lettuce and it normally cuts my calories in half. I actually find it tastier than the carbie original. I'd be careful with your dressings. Ranch is really tasty but it's high calorie and high fat. There was some pretty delicious vinaigrette out there that are better for you and still yummy. Just a suggestion for you. You doing a great job.
