3 More Days + Spring Cleaning

Tuesday, June 03, 2014

Yesterday I made some Rosetto brand broccoli and cheese ravioli with Prego 3 cheese alfredo sauce and freshly grated parmesan cheese. I made a side dish of sautéed zucchini and yellow crookneck squash with pepper, mrs. dash salt-free garlic and herb seasoning, and a tiny bit of extra virgin olive oil. It turned out to be a pretty yummy dinner :)

I made my own trail mix :) I used a bag of banana chips, 2 small bags of dried cranberries, and 2 bags of dried papaya and pineapple from the dollar store and added 1 container of Planter's Nut-trition mixed nuts that has almonds, cashews, and macadamia nuts. I also added some chocolate covered almonds, chocolate covered peanuts, yogurt covered raisins, white chocolate pieces, and chocolate covered caramel balls. I know I know it sounds like I loaded up the chocolate but I only put a little bit of each item in a bowl and mixed it all up. I weighed the bowl of trail mix and I made 3 pounds worth :) I've got enough stuff to make a 2nd batch with some different stuff like cocoa dusted almonds, sunflower seeds, and chocolate covered pistachios :) The trail mix I made last night tasted so good!

I vacuumed the hallway, the stairs, the bathroom, part of the dining room, and the kitchen. I had to use the shop vac to pick up everything from our carpet since it's old and "shaggy". I will be working on decluttering the dining room today and finishing up the vacuuming in the dining room and will be washing the bathroom floor and cleaning the mirrors and sink/counter top. I'm trying to keep up with my Spring/Summer cleaning. To make it go faster I'm going to load up what doesn't belong in the dining room into a box and put it in the basement to sort since the basement is going to be a huge project anyways that is going to require a lot of time.

Once I do the dining room I can move on to the living room and then hopefully the area by the front door and the closet by the front door. My goal is to go room my room and clean up/sort everything so I can get rid of the stuff we don't need. I want the house to look like a house and not some messy storage facility because that is exactly what it started looking like. I'm hoping I can get most of it cleaned up in time for when my uncle comes back home on Friday but if not I can finish it up on the weekend. At least the upstairs is complete and looks a million times better. I'm proud of myself that I'm getting this done. My other uncle said he doesn't want to be a hoarder but it's a bit late since he already is... he's picking up items I'm getting rid of and putting it in his car. We don't need a 15 year old printer cable for a printer we no longer have for goodness sakes!

Lisa, have you ever thought about being a professional organizer? I really thing you'd be good at it. The trail mix sounds great! I love the dollar store and never thought about looking for dried fruit which is normally expensive. Thanx for the tip. You veggies sound great too!!
