Sickness set me back but I'm not going to let it stop me

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Since the beginning of January I was continuing on Sparks and doing good...Keeping up with my food journal, walking and in the winter time do indoor walking, yoga, exercising and keeping up with my daily journal. When I started this I was around 250lbs and got down to 216lbs at one point. My goal is 180lbs. I really enjoy Sparks and it kept me active and motivated.
Unfortunately I got sick in March and was hospitalized. It started off with gout, then I had a stomach virus and then while I was in the hospital they found blood clots. Exercise was the last thing on my mind and I wasn't eating right either, skipping meals, doubling up on other meals and got addicted to chocolate. Because of that I am now 230lbs.
Gaining some of the weight back put me into a depression, plus the medicine I was taking wasn't helping me to keep the weight off either.
Well now it is the last week of May and only a little has change. I'm off the medicine for the blood clots and the stomach virus only last about 3 days but the gout is still here.
Anybody that has had gout know it is very painful. I have it in my foot, ankle and knee in both legs for the foot and ankle and the knee only in my left leg. I take the pain medicine(which sometime makes me drowsy ) and I take the gout medicine but I still have it. That makes it difficult to stand, let alone exercise, yoga or walk, but I'm not going to let that stop me.
Sparks have exercises that I can do sitting down, also the pools are open, now I can go swimming and there are some position in yoga I can do seated or lying down. Since I'm not on all those meds anymore I can watch my diet again and I have slowed down on the chocolate. I also like gardening and I can sit down and plant my garden. These and other activities I can do while my gout is still active so that whenever it is not active again I can go back into my old exercise routine.
I am not going to let the fact I cannot walk or stand stop me from my goal of losing this weight. For I will walk again and I will get back to my routine of losing weight.
If there is anybody else out there that is going through what I am going through, the gout, not able to walk or stand but still want to lose the weight, please respond and give me some ideas on dealing with the gout, getting rid of the gout and how to keep active and lose weight with the gout...
