Spoiler alert: I'm on a diet for the first time in my life.
Where have I been? Uh, being mindless, self-indulgent, and lazy. I have managed to eat myself back up 25 pounds in a little over a year! Well, this is no good. I made an appointment to see my doc, and, under her supervision, I'm cleaning up my act. She has asked me to eliminate a variety of foods from my diet, and, even though I never thought I could do such a thing, I'm on board. Wheat, corn, dairy, sugar, and eggs are right out. Grains, beans, meat, nuts, and an abundance of freggies are in. I did it for four days, and no movement on the scale, plus I felt like crap. But, instead of assuming this wasn't going to work and throwing in the towel, like always, I called her and she said to stick it out for three weeks. Well, it has been one week now, and darned if I am not eating ALL THE TIME and the scale is dropping like a rock. I'm down six pounds, a feat I could not attain in the last eight months of, admittedly halfheartedly, doing WW. Better yet, I feel really great and I don't want any of those foods in the least. I have been faced with donuts, pasta, and ice cream, and I didn't find them tempting. Huh.
Yesterday the hubs said, "What's with the compost bucket? I've been emptying it every day and it's always overflowing!" That's right, pal. It's a freggie frenzy over here!
I'm going to start blogging here about how it's going because I am very curious to see how this pans out and whether I am going to add any of these foods back in, as the doc suggested, at the end of the three week elimination phase.
Time will tell!
