Doctor's Orders

Thursday, May 22, 2014

Hi Everyone:

Why is it I am good with watching what I eat & exercise when either I am due for a yearly physical at the Doctors or just after the appointment. The Doctor is getting to know me well. This year (he knows I will go off eating and exercise a few weeks or months after seeing him) he has put me on a strict 1200/day calorie Diabetic Diet and want to see results when I return in 3-4 months or else he will put me on pills. Not sure if the pills are for Diabetes 2 or weight-loss pills. How is he making sure I stick to it, he also has me seeing the Nutritionist every 2 weeks to help keep me on track, with a diet plan and check-ins. Oh yay.

My 1st order of business, throw out or give away all baked goods and bad for you foods. I just gave a big tin of some baked goods to my co-workers (which was much appreciated. Threw out bag of cookies and chocolate covered pretzels. Yay me.

My 2nd order of business was to buy a bike and start riding it as part of my exercise routine. I did some riding yesterday (insert, my butt and thighs are killing me today). Then I proceeded to my pool and did a few lengths of swimming. Accomplished.

My third is to buy a new seat for my bike to fit my big butt (lol). Accomplished, now to install it.

I have had Breakfast (not bad) so far. To be honest, eating the foods recommended is not my problem, cravings and hunger at night is my truly big downfall. Hopefully, I can get through tonite with as little problem as possible.

Wish me luck. This is the first day for the rest of my life (literally).

I don't think your doctor is putting you on diet pills, it will most likely be for diabetes if your blood sugars are high. I hope you can avoid that. If you are pre-diabetic and craving food, try cutting down on sugar and simple carbs - go to more of the complex carbs. That means cutting out white breads, regular pasta, white rice, baked goods. It really does make a difference. These things cause your blood sugar to rise quickly and then drop quickly making you hungry again. Best of luck sticking with your program!
