Balboa Island is part of the Newport Beach area and I have some pics from that area when I liked walking early in the morning along there. We also took a harbor tour around there one day and saw the rich homes Some belong to celebrities for vacation now and some in the past. Multi-million dollar homes in a large part because of the property they are on. Definitely not one of those we were in but I really liked the small one we were in. The land was bought by my friend's husband Tom's grandfather in the late 1920's and the grandfather built a house on it from a package he sent away for which included the entire house and furniture. He put it together himself. Some things have been updated of course since then. Then the lot next door was up for sale for $600 during the depression in 1933 and the grandfather scraped together the money for that and built a cabana on it. And there is also a garage full of stuff We were very comfortable there and not far from the beach. At night could sometimes hear the waves, especially before we left when the waves were a little higher.
This is the fin and back of a dolphin that was jumping that morning. There were several of them but so fast I couldn't get good pictures.
The small waves breaking on the way to the wharf. This was the first morning and the sea was calmer. Nobody out that day trying to jump in the waves.
The last morning we were there more people were out at 6 am when the beach opened because the waves were choppier and they went in the water in wetsuits and waited for the waves to wash over them
The water washed a little higher than other mornings I was out there.
I walked a little way down the beach, and when I got back to the starting point about 6:45 there were even more people in the water for the waves. This was a Thursday too, so it wasn't even a weekend. Many more people on weekends. During the day the beach gets full. When we got there on a Friday the temp was in the 70's By the time we left on this Wednesday it was up around 100 degrees during the day. Then after a few days dropped down to 70's and 80's again.
Still tons more pics. There are pictures of the harbor on the other side of the small island and the boat tour. There are pics of our day at Catalina beach. And then there are other things like hikes and stuff that aren't on an ocean. So many beautiful things. And the aquarium at Laguna Beach we went to one day. But the pics are load really slow so I'm going to end this part for now and do separate blogs another day. Hope you enjoyed seeing at least a little. I loved all of it but I think my very favorite part was those solitary early morning walks along the beach listening to the surf breaking and how it sounded on different days. So beautiful to me,
How nice the family still owns that house and land he bought so cheap in 1920! Nice to have friends like that! A lot of perks! Love the pics! It is something how the oceans are so different! Those waves! Wow! Walking on the beach is one of, if not my all time fave things to do! Can't wait to see more photos! Have fun! 1766 days ago
