Positive choices despite the stress!!!

I've been eating more wholesome / raw fruits and veggies and tempeh, soba noodles, more water. All around better choices!

Last night I almost got fast food, but then I took a few deep breaths, and made a deal with myself. I told myself if, after I drank a 32 oz bottle of water and ate an apple, I still wanted it, I could have it. Well... I didn't. The apple and water gave me the energy boost I needed to cook a more nutritious meal at home, and it was delicious, too.

Today I bought a case of gluten-free lemon poppyseed cakes at the market (I almost never eat bakery goods or refined carbs, but I just had a hankering). I ate 3 of them, and I almost ate another (they aren't terribly large, but the serving is like 2)... and then I paused, took a moment to reflect, and decided to put them out of my area of vision -- if I still wanted one after 5 min of not looking at them, I'd eat another. Well, I didn't. I'm going to spread them out over the next two days.

This whole "pause" and "make a deal with myself" thing seems to be a great tool. It's a part of mindfulness I'd not explored before, but now that I am it is empowering me to become even stronger.

I'm really proud of myself. It's all about these little victories in the end. I'm going to keep focusing on each moment... Take care of my pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves. A few good choices here or there, and before I know it, I will be at my 5% lost goal.
