Finally cooler today.

On Wednesday, after I got back home with Phred, he jumped off either one of the beds or the dog door and landed wrong. He came into visit me and was acting all weird and when I petted him & tried to pick him up, he cried out in pain. Jeff got home later that evening about 8:15pm and I notified him something was wrong with his dog. Jeff tried to pick Phred up and he cried, so the poor dog slept in his doggy bed Wednesday night.

Took Phred to the vet in the morning. Frank dropped me off at around 10am on his way to work. The vet is very close and normally I walk the dog over there. Phred cried in my arms for the sort 5 min. ride over. They did x-rays and blood work. He pinched a nerve in his back or in lay men's terms he sprained his back. He is on pain pills & a muscle relaxer. The vet said no walks until we go back next Sat. (I already had this appointment for his shots) so sort of worked out. Of course wasn't cheap @ $444 but could have been a lot worse or more money. The strange thing about the x-ray is it showed Phred is short a rib, born that way, not too common. Vet had never seen a dog with it, but of course had heard about it. So we always knew he was a bit off & crazy, maybe this was why. lol Phred is doing great now, but is sad that I go off for the evening walk without him. Vet said no walks for at 7-10 days. We are suppose to keep him calm. ha ha ha he is a crazy dog, jumping all over the place and barking at every little thing. I think he will heal .

So the weather was at or over 100 for the last 3 days. In fact we had a fire next to the local freeway on Wednesday that was less than a mile from the house. Frank was on his way to the dentist but had to turn around and take surface streets. I was at the market so didn't notice. I just wanted to get home, get the food inside and be in the AC. If not for the winds, I felt like I wouldn't have even been able to drive anywhere since the AC is still out in the car. Thursday it was 106 here at the house, the official weather said 104 but I have a temp. gauge outside in the shade and I know what it and the local banks said.

Weather is cooling off, since it is currently 82 degrees at 4:37pm and not 100. I did a morning walk around 9:15am and when I got back it was just over 80, so it was nice to get out in the fresh air. Although the air is considered pretty bad right not because of all the fires in the state. Smog really sucks because of them.

When I was at the hairdresser on Friday it sounded like one of your blogs. some ladies were talking about the high temps and Santa ana winds in CA! Glad it is cooling off. Poor Fred! I feel so bad for him! Especially if he has to stay calm and he is hyper! Sounds like my pup! Do the pain meds and muscle relaxers tire him out like they do me? Keep us posted on his progress! Give him a kiss and tell him Auntie Melissa is thinking of him!

Sending healing prayers for your precious dog. I know vet costs are really high but they are so worth it. I know he misses the walks too! Sending you some cool breezes too! So glad the fires did not affect you.

It's really hard for your pet to be in pain and crying!! Glad he is doing better and back to being crazy!! We have had a freeze the past 2 nights. The 1st was 26 degrees and last night 33 with frost on the grass and truck. When we left the Valley, it was in the 100's so have had both ends of it. Actually prefer the cold as we could turn the heat on if needed but heat makes the A/C work too hard!! Have a great Sunday!! Stay cool!
