Very hot & windy the last couple of days.

So yesterday I wanted to walk and it was already over 80 degrees by 8am. So I ended up going to the gym around 10am. Stupid gym (Planet Fitness), they had one of the front doors open (they have large double glass doors) when I left I asked why the door was open when it was 94 degrees outside. The gym guy said and I quote "But there is a nice breeze". Really, we are having Santa Ana winds again and it is a strong wind not a breeze. What a waste of energy for all that AC going out the door.
So I go again today but a bit later, in fact after 2pm, it is close to 100 degrees, get there and both doors are wide open. I am thinking the owners of this place must have money to throw out the window (in this case doors) and they remained open the whole time I was there. So the inside is pretty cold, the ceiling fans are blowing full blast and I never hear the compressor from the AC go off. I have AC in my home and I know they are suppose to cycle, even with your fresh intake fans are turned off. They will cycle on and off. Businesses can be reported here for wasting energy, but do I really want to do that. I go to the gym when the weather is like this because of allergies and asthma and with those doors open, I might as well be out on the sidewalk
Also the killer is my AC in my car is still not working. Ouch, so when I come out of the gym I must put my towel on the sit so I don't burn my rear end.
Oh well. Frank got a temp job for a couple of weeks at REI (a sporting goods store chain here in CA). This will help him pay for some cavities he thinks he may have. He gets his teeth cleaned tomorrow and they will do x-rays at that time. We paid for the cleaning because the dentist gave us a deal @ $150 cash price w/x-rays included. He will have to see how it goes.
It's 4:30pm & close to 100 degrees. I have to take Phred out late, after 7pm, so the sidewalk & street won't burn his paws. emoticon

Wow! That is awful heat! That gym is crazy! I think they should be reported, also, maybe the owners told -perhaps they would rather not see their bottom line blown out the doors! That is such a double whammy, those winds and heat together. Hoping you don't get the fires..
Good luck finding a way to safely exercise Phred and yourself -you need a swimming pool (enclosed of course)
I remember those days of hot car seats :P Mom used to have a station wagon with a black vinyl interior and boy, when the sun beat down on it, it was hot and you could burn yourself on the seat and seat belt buckle! We never had A/C in the house or car, not really necessary as we have more cold then hot weather, but we used to get some good hot days in the 90's-100 but this so called global warming seems to have had the opposite effect on us -we are cooler now.
Hope you get a break soon -you and Phred will have to get up earlier! Do the winds blow continuously or do they calm at night? Our best time for no winds is early morning.

Jeepers! That is hot! Poor Fred. I just had 2 cavities filled. Yuck! That is crazy leaving the doors open. Maybe people got cold inside? I'd talk to the manager about the doors being open if it activates your allergies. They oughta think.

That is a little warm!! I can't believe they would keep those doors open!! As we are traveling yet, we have gone from NE. over the weekend and tornadoes/rain storms to IA. and possible frost tonight!! When we left the Valley, the temps were in the 100's. Got to 107.
We also have REI in the Twin Cities. Nice store but we never shop there. Take care and drink lots when out!

Wow! That is just too hot! I wonder what the gym managers are thinking the A/C is for? I know one thing, the doors here in Texas are closed when its that hot! Take care of yourself in this heat, and I think I WOULD report the gym for wasting energy! A pretty cut and dried case of it, that's for sure!
