Fun With Numbers

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

For the last three weeks, the scale has been exactly the same every Sunday morning. To the ounce. This is a bit frustrating. (At least it's not going up, at least I'm seeing non-scale victories, at least my clothes are fitting better, blah blah blah, spare me your pep talks.)

But here's the weird part.

If I weigh in on any other day, the scale moves. That is the only reason I know it's not broken. I weighed in this morning out of curiosity and I have magically gained three pounds. WTF? I guarantee you it'll be back down tomorrow.

And despite this mysterious three pound gain, my body fat percentage has gone down since Sunday by 0.5%.

This right here is why I try to only look at the scale once a week. I can drive myself batty with this nonsense.

I'm not worried about the three pounds. PMS, water weight, yadda yadda yadda. It'll go back down. I'm looking and feeling better. It's all good.

BUT DAMMIT WHY WON'T THE SCALE MOVE ON A SUNDAY?! (IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, THAT IS!)

OK I'm better now. Really.

:-)

I had to stop weighing myself because it made me so dadgum mad! I would feel great about my progress and then check the number and then spend who knows how much time convincing myself not to feel bad about the stupid number. I started measuring instead but that was only marginally better. Now I just flail along without checking on progress.
