2. Listen to internal hunger cues. Lean healthy people don't eat just because of stress, or convenience, but tend to listen to their stomach. Next time you are at the movies don't grab a bag of popcorn because it is the thing to do. And when the urge to grab a snack or something to munch on strikes ask yourself if the urge is due to hunger or if it is something else. If it is hunger, decide whether you can wait it out until the next meal time and plan to eat a little more fulling food item the next day so that hunger does not strike at times between meals. Avoid sugary foods that tend to be less fulling. Do something to relieve any stress and to get your mind off the idea of munching on something, particularly if your stomach is not telling you that you are hungry.
