How I Lost 25 Pounds With Practically No Effort (Part I)

*This is Part 1 of a 3 part blog series about how I lost the 25 pounds I did before joining SparkPeople. I don't tend to talk about those days much*

***It was a really dark day for me.
I knew that I had gained a huge amount of weight since a very tough breakup a couple years prior. I was at a friend's gym where the scale had a reputation for being fairly generous compared to the one I had been using.

it said 249. I stopped weighing myself at that point, because I really didn't feel the need to see an above 250 reading. The fact was I was 30 pounds obese and 30 pounds from being morbidly obese.

I had no energy, but the darnedest thing is I didn't realize how bad it was until years later when I lost the weight.

***My typical day's eating included:
-fast food Sausage biscuit
-2 hash browns
-12oz cola
-6 small donettes (packaged)

Mid morning I would snack on candy (I had an enabling co-worker who liked to provide candy for the office)

-2 slices of Pizza from the cafeteria
-Bag of chips
-candy bar

at least 2-3 candy bars through out the afternoon to keep the energy level up

- Fast food meal 2-4 times per week (sometimes a sub or mall food court food the other days)

Basically, when you hear of the awful typical American Diet and why Americans are so unhealthy I was eating the diet that most nutritionists describe as the reason.

Between that and the extra 55 pounds that I had gained since three years prior, exercise was not part of the plan.

***Between then and joining SparkPeople
I made two small changes between then and joining SparkPeople that resulted in losing 25 pounds.

I will talk about both of them over my next couple of midweek blogs.

    I think we've all been to this point and the reason why we found/joined spark people. I can completely relate and I applaud you for your courage to post this!!! I know the devastation a rough breakup can put it through (which I've experienced recently) and it has taken me a few steps back before I could go forward. I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our experiences make us who we are ...and it's made you into a pretty awesome fella :)
